The Pelican — Folk Art Decorative Portrait Canvas Wall Art

He has always been worth a careful look, and someone finally gave him one. The wing carries its pattern of circles — large and small, amber and cream — with the unhurried confidence of markings that were always meant to be noticed. The beak is orange in the way of things that are exactly as vivid as they need to be. The background is the deep teal of water that is also somehow sky. This is a portrait of a bird that has been painted before, in field guides and museum drawers, but not quite like this — not with this much attention to what makes him worth the attention.
