One Very Round Cat. One Very Small Plant. One Very Large Amount of Contentment. Nobody Has Questions.

Against a warm, gently textured cream ground — the ground of a wall that has decided it would like to be the background for something genuinely good — sits a cat. He is orange. He is striped in the specific bold dark-brown diagonal way of a cat who has always been exactly this orange and has never once felt differently about it. He is round in the way of a cat who has found an arrangement with the world that works very well for both parties. In front of him, held with the specific careful paw-forward posture of a cat who is in charge of something important, sits a dark teal mug. In the mug grows a small plant. The plant has round leaves. The leaves are teal-green. The cat is watching over the plant. The plant is growing. The cat is content. The mug is exactly where it should be. The dark ground beneath them is steady. The cream air around them is warm. This is a painting about a cat and a plant and the specific domestic peace that comes from having both in exactly the right place.
