The Town Is Below. The Season Has Arrived. He Was Already Here.

A black cat sits at the edge of a stone wall, back to the viewer, watching an autumn town settle into its evening. Church spire, lit windows, orange leaves, the particular amber fog of October. He is not waiting for anything. He is simply present at the right place at the right time, which for a cat of this disposition is every place, always. The painting gives you the view from where he is sitting, which is the best view available.

Why You'll Love It

• Impressionist oil with gothic atmosphere — loose, expressive brushwork in warm amber and deep umber that gives the scene its haze and the cat his weight; the technique makes the town feel like a memory and the cat feel like the only real thing in it
• Amber gold, burnt orange, and absolute black — the palette of the best week of the year, kept on the wall past the season that brings it; it works by daylight and is better still by lamplight
• The back is the whole portrait — no face, no expression; just the posture of a creature completely at ease with being exactly where he is; this is rarer than it sounds and the painting knows it
• HD archival printing on artist-grade canvas — vivid, fade-resistant clarity on every print
• Natural wood frame available — ready to hang out of the box
• Made & shipped in the USA — printed on demand, crafted with care
• 9 sizes available — from 8x12" accent to 34x51" statement piece
